Bison Beer Hove

There’s no better bar in the area for keg and can variety

Entering the smart, modern cube of Bison Beer Hove, your eye is undoubtedly drawn to the hundreds of beers waiting to be discovered in fridges down the left wall. How will you ever decide…?

If you make it past the fridges you will be invited to ascend the stairs to the elevated bar where six tap options vary regularly. The staff seem to know their stuff, and are happy to offer tasters.

There’s limited seating but what there is makes good use of the space, with a long bench and stools running through the centre and some wooden tables attached to the right wall. It’s all very modern and functional.

To accompany the beverages you can enjoy meat and cheese boards, and on weekends a pop-up kitchen often appears on the forecourt.

Perhaps due to the lack of modern tap bars along Church Road, on weekends Bison Beer Hove can be quite overcrowded and a garden party atmosphere spills out onto the front patio area. If you like a party then there only one downside to this really: with only one loo here, don’t leave it late to get in the queue…
