What the website says…

Good time kombucha & beers. Only With Love is a new kind of brewery. Sustainably created, packaged and delivered… we create kombucha and beer for better minds, bodies and spirits

Our take on Only With Love Brewery…

With loads of experience behind him at the now-closed Holler Brewery, Head Brewer Steve has teamed up with Roger Warner and brought cartoon-character branding, good-time vibes and plenty of brewing knowledge to the Only With Love Brewery.
Both guys are BIG fans of US ale styles, and the output focus is on keg beers right now with a range that already spans six different brews – not bad at all considering they launched at the tumultuous start of the pandemic lockdown.

Only With Love’s branding and ethos is intended to appeal to men and women looking to have fun and good times while making good memories with their friends, fuelled by a solid sessionable range of ales. They don’t seem fussed about attracting the beer geeks – they want to stand out by simply being joyous creators of good beers.

The fun and wellness ethic is apparent in their side-product, carbonated kombucha (fermented green tea to you and me), which they are just as passionate about as the beer. Booch is a new-age, good-for-you soft drink that actually tastes very nice indeed if you like a tart, farmhousey kick. If you have a teetotal mate or a pregnant wife, or just fancy a change from lemonade, this will go down very well.

A bit of history…
They tell us that they met at a football pitch. Steve and Roger are both big Lewes FC fans, as well as being Directors on the club’s volunteer Board. Soon after, in 2020, they funded the brewery start-up with investment from friends and family – just in time for the pandemic to interrupt the proceedings. The focus has understandably been on small pack distribution, though the aim is to bring the beers to tap-bar venues such as the Evening Star so that they can enjoy some positive pub sessions as well.

Is it Local?
Only With Love are located in Uckfield, so not far away from Brighton & Hove. It will interesting to see where the brewery will get their beers into the hands of pub punters once things are back to normal.

Our favourites 🍺
Love Bug is a 5.8% NEIPA, and it’s gone to the top of our list of their beers right now. It’s a gorgeous, light and fruity number, bold with apricot, smooth with oats and finishing really well balanced; a little dank, but without too much hop resin, lingering bitterness or sweetness. It’s a really great juicy pale, made in collaboration with Cellar Head who are based in the Weald.

A pretty close second is Dance Every Day: not only a great sentiment, but a crisp and mouthwatering APA. Sometimes you want a straight drinking pale, one that’s uncomplicated and not lost in a jungle of fruit flavours. This is it, and at only a 3.8% it’s a rewarding and sessionable beer that finishes with a slightly dry bitter finish.
