The Gladstone Brighton

All are welcome in this vibrant and energetic pub

You won’t miss the sunny yellow exterior of The Gladstone when strolling down Lewes Road in Brighton, and that vibrancy continues inside.

The main space is bright and airy and the bar takes centre stage surrounded by different sized tables and high bar stool seating. Passing through into the back room this doubles as a more subdued seating space as well as a good-sized event room hosting an eclectic variety of entertainment. We hear that this is always free at The Gladstone, so your visit could last longer than you planned!
The front benches on the pavement are often busy with people enjoying the sunshine, and the back garden is leafy and bigger than it seems, with various sections of boothed heated and sheltered seating and lots of central communal benches.

There are up to four cask options on the bar, usually supporting local producers, and three different cider options on tap (notwworthy given cider options in Brighton pubs are a rarity); however there’s only one keg pale – Punk IPA on our most recent visit.

There is an excellent value and big-portion mains and burger menu, with good veggie options.

You’ll find a clamourous mix of students and locals here, the pub is very welcoming, down to earth, dog friendly and just feels like the kind of place you’ll end up meeting a random perons and getting into a conversation.
