An easy-going community pub with a feeling of space
76-78 Ditchling Rise
The Signalman, Brighton
Good cask, good keg and all pub boxes ticked
The Signalman is spacious, warm and friendly, offers great food and a good selection of beers, is very dog friendly, shows live sport and provides a huge sunny garden space. What more could you want?
Paintings, pictures and railway-related memorabilia decorate the walls, and a floor-to-ceiling library of books and board games is available for perusal.
It’s very easygoing and unpretentious, and there are ample tables that can accommodate plenty of big groups for dining or meet-ups.
The Laine ownership is apparent, with many of its range of beers on the taps and pumps, but other brewers rotate regularly and offer a decent choice.
The garden is a colourful astro-turfed area with plenty of tables plus heated and sheltered booths along one wall; and if it’s really busy a second garden opens up to the side.
The kitchen offers excellent quality pub fare, including filling roasts and light bites at reasonable prices, and has always met our expectations.
