Ye Olde Black Horse Rottingdean
Traditional charm in a popular community pub
Located up Rottingdean’s narrow, centuries-old High Street is the white painted facade of Ye Olde Black Horse Rottingdean, a much-loved traditional pub dating back to the 16th Century.
Ye Olde Black Horse is essentially split into four areas, all wood-clad and with a really bedded in feel. The left side is bright with a maritime theme; the right is duskier, and by the looks of the speakers, lights and DJ gear around, can get pretty lively of an evening.
Between the two wings is an extremely cosy smugglers’ cove type area with room for only a couple of small tables. Finally at the back is a space more formally laid out for dining.
They announced recently a new garden space which should open summer 2020.
Ye Olde Black Horse Rottingdean boast 8 cask options that include local brewers but we didn’t see any keg options at all on our last visit.
Food comes in the form of simple snacks and a pizza menu with great looking roasts available on Sundays.
